PUREE BASICS

noun

“a paste or thick liquid suspension usually made from cooked ground finely”

-Mirriam-Webster

EQUIPMENT

  • Blender

  • Food (banana/yam/potato/carrot/apple/pear/broccoli/rice/porridge)

Are you ready? Let’s do this. Cook (steam/boil/roast/bake) food, unseasoned, and blend the s*it out of it. Fruit is even simpler. Step 1 and done: Blend.

The End. Lovely, huh?

But we like to make it all complicated, don’t we? K, let’s go shopping.

High Chair : This is that wooden high chair most restaurants use. I fell in love with simple, sturdy wooden high chairs after I used them when we went out to eat. There are less crevices than the plastic chairs. But we got good use out of the IKEA Antilop high chair, it has such a friendly price point.

Baby Spoons: I love most of products from Munchkin. They’re priced right and I like the colours and designs. I have recently realized my baby could benefit from special weaning spoons like these (they double as teethers) or these

Baby Bib: Make My Day is the company that does the bib with the pearls. They’re incredibly soft and pliable- I’ve used a cheapo one that was so rigid, there’s a real difference. They roll up nice when you want to tuck it into your bag, it catches a lot of food and they’re the cutest ones I’ve seen.

Baby Silicone Plate: My daughter didn’t pick up her plate too much, but my son really got good use out of this. Although I really like the cute animal characters, I like it when the dividers don’t have sharp corners because it makes it a pain to clean. I can just spray water unto this one and everything slides right out.

Splat Mat: Most of the mats to place under a baby’s high chair are hardly better than dollar store plastic tablecloths. I didn’t feel a great need for this with my daughter, but wow, my son’s mealtimes… they’re better now with this mat. This actually stays put on the floor and look halfway decent, not the buttery caramels from Gathre, but it’ll do.

Action Camera: Document the cutest moments for all eternity. I’ve tried smartphones, digital cameras and even the Osmo Pocket, but nothing beats a GoPro QuikCapture for those twinkling toddler moments that are over in a flash.
